Also used externally for neuralgia, rheumatic pain, eczema, pruritus, and wounds. guaco (Mikania glomerata) is commonly used as a medicinal tea as an expectorant and anti-inflammatory. Tea made from Guaco is used as a remedy for treating diarrhea as well as to reduce fevers, suppress coughs and also as a natural blood thinner. Guaco is also used to cleanse the blood, improve digestion, combat asthma along with promoting a healthier respiratory system. Guaco is antiallergic, and has bronchodilator properties. Aslo used for upper respiratory problems like asthma, bronchitis, colds, and flu. Also used as an antibacterial for Candida and yeast infections.

Guaco contains around 10 percent coumarin, which has blood-thinning properties.

Guaco is usually consumed as an infusion/tea—4 oz. standard infusion. Standard infusion: 1 tablespoon herb to 1 cup/8 oz. of boiling water. Steep the herb in the boiling water for 15–20 minutes.
